DO YOU HAVE AN OVERVIEW OF MANDATORY AND OPTIONAL VACCINATIONS FOR YOUR DOG?

If you are among the breeders - beginners, then you may be confused about mandatory and optional vaccinations. This is also why it pays to get your dog in order once and for all, which vaccinations are absolutely necessary. In addition, it is good to know at what age he should receive individual vaccinations.

Vaccination of dogs

All dog owners want their four-legged friend to be healthy first and foremost. And regular visits to the vet, and above all mandatory vaccinations, are also closely related to health. If you do not own a kennel, then you probably took over a small puppy with several entries in the vaccination certificate.

A puppy between six and eight weeks old because they have to graduate vaccination against distemper and parvovirus . Roughly after three weeks this is followed by revaccination, during which the puppy is still vaccinated against canine infectious hepatitis and parainfluenza. Around the fifteenth week of life, the last revaccination against the mentioned diseases and vaccination against leptospirosis takes place.

MANDATORY RAGE

Subsequently, one more important vaccination awaits you in the form of rabies vaccine . Although vaccination against rabies is not mandatory in some countries (e.g. in Italy), the law in the Czech Republic says the opposite. So be sure to vaccinate your pet dog against rabies between the third and sixth months of his life . Otherwise, you risk paying an unpleasant fine.

At the same time, it is important to think that most rabies vaccines are effective for a year . You'd better save the reminder in your calendar so you don't forget to take your dog to the vet for vaccinations in a year. But the truth remains that you can currently find a rabies vaccine on the Czech market, which is administered only once every two years.

ADDITIONAL VACCINATIONS

Of course, you can also treat your dog to optional vaccinations, so-called supplementary vaccinations. Whether you opt for additional vaccinations is entirely up to you and your preferences. Nevertheless, it is good to know what diseases you can prevent in dogs.

If you have a dog at home that spends most of its time in nature and in tall grass, then you can vaccinate it against Lyme disease . This unpleasant bacterial disease is transmitted by ticks and is definitely a dangerous disease. Ideally, vaccinate the dog against Lyme disease before the tick season . Also prepare for the fact that after a year the dog must undergo a revaccination.

Not only if you keep many dogs at home, have a kennel or regularly attend exhibitions, consider also vaccination against distemper . Again, this is an unpleasant disease, during which the dog suffers from coughing or pneumonia. The spread of distemper is massive in cities where dogs meet and sniff the same places.

Last but not least, you can also vaccinate your dog against tetanus , a disease that enters the body after an injury. According to veterinarians, tetanus mainly affects puppies that are changing their teeth. That is also why it is good if you vaccinate your dog against tetanus in the third month, that is at the time when his first baby teeth fall out .

WHAT ABOUT THE SIDE EFFECTS?

While in the human realm vaccinations are sometimes accompanied by side effects, dogs are much more resistant in this regard . Nevertheless, in exceptional cases it may happen that your four-legged pet will be more tired, lose his appetite or have a fever after vaccination. At such a moment, do not wait for anything, and immediately send to the veterinary clinic . The vet will then examine the dog and find out if vaccinations are really to blame for his health problems.
